Separation Processes

The separation process research area deals with fundamental and applied research within design, operation, and fundamental understanding of separation processes.

We are responsible for the Center for Membrane Technology, and work with synthesis and functionalization of membranes, design of membrane modules, test of new membrane processes and pilot-scale operation. We work with the application of separation processes for recovery of nutrients from waste streams, recovery of valuable compounds, harvesting of minerals from solutions, removal of micropollutants and reuse of organic solvents.

Research flagships

- New membrane processes
- Phosphorus recovery from waste streams
- Membrane fouling monitoring and modelling
- Thermocatalytic membranes
- Flocculation and dewatering of organic suspensions
